Nicole Davis-Westbrook, LMHC, SUDP
I have a Masters in Counseling Psychology and completed the requirements to obtain additional licensure for Addiction treatments. As a dually licensed clinician, holding credentials as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, as well as a Substance Use Disorder Professional, I have the unique opportunity to work with clients as a whole person. Often, we turn to addictive behaviors as a coping mechanism for something deeper impacting us; but then the coping mechanism causes problems of its own. Historically, mental health and substance use struggles are siloed in their treatments but we know these two elements are intrinsically connected and we need to address them simultaneously for the best outcome.
I have worked with children, adolescents and adults in settings ranging from residential to outpatient. Much of my past 10 years of work has been focused on the mental health crisis system of care. I have been one of the county crisis responders, performing evaluations for involuntary commitment, and most recently was the Clinical Director of the crisis lines for 9 counties in Washington State. It felt meaningful to provide short term support to folks in crisis, and I'm really energized by the ability to form deeper, longer term connections with clients in a private practice setting.
I moved to Seattle 15 years ago for graduate school and have never left, nor do I intend to. I love the climate, culture and people of the Pacific Northwest. I feel lucky to both work and live in the beautiful Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle. I live with my partner and our two persnickety cats, (Albert) Camus and Simone (de Beauvoir), as well as a jungle of house plants.
